ACT is excited to announce the 2013-2014 season of shows. We start off the year with the newly released musical, Shrek! Based on the Dreamworks movie, it includes all your favorite characters and songs. Watch for announcements about auditions at the end of May.
Shrek will be followed by the funny and touching show “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. Based on the classic book by Barbara Robinson, we follow the Herdmans, “the worst kids in the history of the world” as they take over the church’s Christmas pageant. The real meaning of Christmas comes through as the play progresses.
Actors age 13 and older will be performing “Midsummer Night’s Dream”, Shakespeare’s fun but challenging story of love. Meanwhile younger students will be part of 9-year-old Peter Hatcher’s life with his younger brother, Farley Drexell “Fudge” Hatcher. Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing Based on the book by Judy Blume that started the series of books about Fudge, Peter must deal with Fudge’s hysterical antics.
The season finishes with Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. A large cast will take us on the magical tour as Aladdin, with the “help” of a genie tries to win the heart of the princess.
It should be a great season with opportunities for lots of people! Make sure you join us in making this an outstanding year at ACT! Start training for these wonderful shows by signing up for summer classes!
Will “Midsummer Night’s Dream” lead roles be played by adults like in Shrek?
Hey Whitney!
I am directing Midsummer, and it is a Studio 13 (13 and up to audition). However, if we get phenomenal older students, (of which we have many!) I prefer to cast this one no older than high school age.
That was a good question and feel free to pass the info on!
Julie! I’m so excited for mid summer night’s dream! Now I’m even more excited now that I know you’re directing it! Can’t wait to tryout!
